Two-Cheese Bread

Two-Cheese Bread H

Here’s yet another great recipe I got years ago on the online food message forum I belong to. I don’t remember who originally posted it, but this was a hit among members on the board. One of the most talked about, shared recipes of all time. I’ve made this a million times and always to rave reviews. It’s not a fancy food…nor is it a particularly healthy one… more of a simple, crude, satisfying comfort food and hey, to make this once in a while at home or for guests? I say, why not? Indulge! It’s absolutely delicious.

Two-Cheese Bread

1 large loaf French bread

1/2 cup butter, room temperature

1 cup shredded Asiago cheese

1 cup shredded Jack cheese

3/4 to 1 cup mayonnaise

1 bunch green onions, chopped

2 cloves garlic, finely minced

Split bread into halves lengthwise. Mix together the rest of ingredients until well combined. Spread cut side of halves with mixture. Bake at 350° for about 7 minutes, then place under broiler for about 3 minutes. Slice portions that are about 1 1/2 to 2 inches wide.

Cooking Tips:  If a recipe calls for mayonnaise, I strongly recommend using Hellmanns real mayonnaise, not a cheap imitation. Or you can always make your own.

  1. Oh my gosh. Argh! Seeing that header/banner photo made me want to eat the screen! I love cheese. I think I always have. The idea of adding beautiful greens and garlic makes this pretty much the best amped up toasty cheese garlic bread there is! Thanks for the inspiration (mmm, cannot wait to make this!)

  2. Agreed you can’t beat Hellmans – although weirdly I prefer the lower fat version for some reason i didnt think lower fat versions of anything would taste better than the real thing but hey ho…

  3. I love green onions and cheese, and garlic, so this bread must be a winner. The ingredients do tell a lot about the taste. This is easy and well worth trying. thanks for sharing!!! Have a fantastic week!!!
