Two-Cheese Bread

Two-Cheese Bread H

Here’s yet another great recipe I got years ago on the online food message forum I belong to. I don’t remember who originally posted it, but this was a hit among members on the board. One of the most talked about, shared recipes of all time. I’ve made this a million times and always to rave reviews. It’s not a fancy food…nor is it a particularly healthy one… more of a simple, crude, satisfying comfort food and hey, to make this once in a while at home or for guests? I say, why not? Indulge! It’s absolutely delicious.

Two-Cheese Bread

1 large loaf French bread

1/2 cup butter, room temperature

1 cup shredded Asiago cheese

1 cup shredded Jack cheese

3/4 to 1 cup mayonnaise

1 bunch green onions, chopped

2 cloves garlic, finely minced

Split bread into halves lengthwise. Mix together the rest of ingredients until well combined. Spread cut side of halves with mixture. Bake at 350° for about 7 minutes, then place under broiler for about 3 minutes. Slice portions that are about 1 1/2 to 2 inches wide.

Cooking Tips:  If a recipe calls for mayonnaise, I strongly recommend using Hellmanns real mayonnaise, not a cheap imitation. Or you can always make your own.
